Good to know
What do I need on site to make this work?
Just a power socket for the control panel — the construction power in the site cabin is enough. If it's switched off in the evening, the control panel keeps running for 24 hours on its own battery. You need nothing else: the sensors run on battery or solar power and don't need to be connected to anything, and internet isn't required because the control panel alerts via 4G with a prepaid SIM card.
Keep one thing in mind when laying out your site. The control panel stays in contact with the Elite sensors via LoRa up to 500 metres, but you place the ShieldDefender's outdoor detection within 150 metres of the control panel. For most construction sites that's plenty — if in doubt, just send us a site plan via WhatsApp.
What does this cost per project?
Nothing recurring. You buy the system once and it's yours. If you run three or four projects a year, you reuse the same system each time — so the cost per project drops with every job. Only the prepaid SIM card costs you a few dozen euros a year.
Does someone come by when the alarm goes off?
No — no monitoring centre, no security guard who responds. You do get a 120 dB siren and bright light on site, plus an instant alert on your phone. If you also want to see what happened, add a camera as in Kit 3 — it sends a video clip along when it detects motion. For a response service you need a separate professional monitoring contract.
