Smoke by the fireplace. Alarm right up to the attic.
Smoke detectors for your whole home

Smoke by the fireplace. Alarm right up to the attic.

A standalone smoke detector only warns the room it hangs in. Link them together and they all go off at once. Connect them to your ShieldLink® and your sirens sound too, and you get an alert on your phone via the free app — even when you're not home. The SmokeSense® runs for up to ten years on one sealed battery and is certified to EN 14604.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

How many smoke detectors do I need, and where do I put them?

Since 1 July 2022, a smoke detector on every floor has been mandatory in the Netherlands, including in existing homes. Place them along the escape route: hallway, landing and stairwell, because that's the way you have to go to get outside. On the ceiling, in the middle of the space and at least 30 centimetres from the wall. Skip the kitchen and bathroom — cooking fumes and shower steam cause false alarms there.

How long does a smoke detector last?

About ten years. Not because the battery runs out, but because the sensor element ages — that applies to every smoke detector, whatever the brand. The SmokeSense® has a sealed lithium battery that lasts up to ten years, so you replace the whole unit in one go. The SmokeAlert® runs on replaceable AA batteries that last up to five years; those batteries are not included in the box.

Will they go off when I cook or shower?

Not if you place them in the right spot. False alarms are the main reason people take the battery out, and that's exactly what you don't want. So don't put a detector in the kitchen or bathroom, and with an open-plan kitchen keep a few metres away from the hob. If you still find a detector is too sensitive for your situation, just send us a message — usually it's a matter of moving it half a metre.
