How much does an alarm system with cameras cost? Prices and an example

Short answer: If you have an installer fit an alarm system with two cameras, Dutch price overviews put the cost at roughly €900 to €2,400 one-off, plus a possible subscription. Cloud storage for camera footage costs €2.50 to €15 per month. If you install it yourself and store footage locally, you mainly pay for the purchase.

An alarm system tells you that something is happening; a camera shows you what is happening. The combination is popular, but price tags vary widely: from a few hundred euros for a kit you put up yourself to a few thousand euros for a system fitted by an installer, sometimes with a monthly fee for storage or professional monitoring on top. In this article we list the market prices in the Netherlands and work out what it costs if you do it yourself. Looking for the cost of an alarm system without cameras? Market prices for alarms and cameras

Below are the amounts that Dutch price overviews and the Consumentenbond (the Dutch consumers' association) give for the individual components. They are ranges, not quotes: what you actually pay depends on the number of cameras, the image quality, the installation work and the provider.

Component Market price Source
Security camera, standalone €100 – €300 each Werkspot
Cheapest cameras with a cloud service under €75 Consumentenbond
Camera security including installation (1 to 4 cameras) €300 – €1,600 Homedeal
Alarm system, basic €500 – €1,000 Werkspot
Alarm system, extensive €1,000 – €2,500 Werkspot
Installation of an alarm system €200 – €800 Werkspot
Cloud storage for camera footage €2.50 – €15 per month Consumentenbond
Professional monitoring subscription €100 – €200 per year Werkspot
Maintenance €100 – €200 per year Werkspot

Amounts including Dutch VAT as stated by the sources (accessed September 2026).

What do you pay if an installer fits everything?

If you add up the amounts from the table for a basic alarm system with two cameras, you end up roughly here:

  • Alarm system, basic: €500 – €1,000
  • Installation: €200 – €800
  • Two cameras: €200 – €600
  • Total: about €900 – €2,400 one-off

That is a rough sum, not a quote. Extra installation work for the cameras (running cables, an outdoor power point) may be added. And after that the running costs start: if you choose professional monitoring, Werkspot quotes €100 to €200 per year, and maintenance adds another €100 to €200 per year. Over five years, that can mean €1,000 to €2,000 extra on top of the purchase.

Cloud storage or memory card: the running costs

With cameras, the recurring cost lies mainly in storing footage. The Consumentenbond compared the subscriptions: for seven days of playback you pay from around €2.50 per month, for thirty days €9 to €15 per month. An annual subscription costs about ten times the monthly amount. Note: with some brands you take out a subscription per camera. Free storage is sometimes available, but often limited, for example to one day or only the first few months.

Work it out over five years: €2.50 per month is €150, €15 per month is €900. With two cameras and a subscription per camera, that doubles.

The alternative is local storage on a micro SD card in the camera itself. You pay once for the card and have no monthly fee. The downside: if someone takes the camera, the recordings go with it. So mount a camera where it is hard to reach.

What does an alarm system with cameras cost at Neroo?

Neroo sells alarm systems without a subscription that you install yourself. The Neroo® Cam works in the same free app as the alarm systems and stores footage locally on a micro SD card; cloud storage is optional. Three examples for comparison. The amounts below are the current web shop prices and are updated automatically.

Situation What's included Total
Apartment or terraced house, cameras indoors ShieldLink® Plus - Complete (panel, 6 door/window contacts, 3 motion detectors, 2 remote controls) + 2x Neroo® Cam + 2x 64GB memory card €403.95
Home with a garden or driveway ShieldLink® Pro - Complete (same contents, panel with SIM card slot) + 1x Neroo® Cam indoors + 1x Havic SolarCam outdoors + 2x 64GB memory card €483.95
The same, but professionally installed As above + installation service by a technician from €683.94

There is no mandatory monthly fee. If you choose a SIM card for the Pro panel, so that notifications also arrive by text message and call without Wi-Fi, you only pay for your own call credit. Which SIM card works well for this, you can read in which SIM card is best for an alarm system.

Which camera goes where?

Indoor camera on a bookshelf in a bright living room

How much you spend depends mainly on the number of cameras and where they go. An indoor camera overlooking the living room or hallway only needs a power socket. Outdoors it gets more expensive if you need to have a power point installed, and that is where a camera with a battery and solar panel can make the difference.

  • Indoors: the Neroo® Cam rotates 355° horizontally and 60° vertically, so one camera covers a large part of a room. Handy for watching live when the alarm sends a notification.
  • Outdoors without a power point: the Havic SolarCam runs on a 10400 mAh battery with a solar panel, has an IP66 housing and supports microSD storage.
  • Looking outside without mounting on the façade: the OutView hangs indoors against the window and films through the glass, for example towards the driveway or front door.

A camera is mainly useful as an addition: the alarm warns you, the image shows whether it is a burglar or the cat. If you see a break-in happening live, call 112.

How to keep costs down

  • Start small. One or two cameras in the places that matter (back door, living room) tell you more than five cameras filming the street.
  • Choose local storage if you don't want a monthly fee. You buy a memory card once.
  • Check whether storage is charged per camera with a cloud subscription. With several cameras, that makes a big difference.
  • Think about power outdoors. Having a power point installed costs money; a camera with a solar panel or an indoor window camera can avoid that.
  • Choose a modular system, so you can add cameras or sensors later without starting over.

So: how much does an alarm system with cameras cost?

Through an installer in the Netherlands, an alarm system with two cameras costs roughly €900 to €2,400 plus any subscriptions, while with a kit you install yourself and local storage you mainly pay the one-off purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a subscription for an alarm system with cameras?

No, not necessarily. A subscription is mainly needed for cloud storage of footage or for professional monitoring. If you store footage locally on a micro SD card and receive notifications in an app, you have no monthly fee.

What does cloud storage for a security camera cost?

According to an overview by the Dutch Consumentenbond (accessed September 2026), cloud storage costs about €2.50 per month for seven days of playback and €9 to €15 per month for thirty days. With some brands you pay per camera.

What does it cost to have security cameras installed?

Dutch price overviews quote €300 to €1,600 for camera security including installation, depending on the number of cameras and the type of system (Homedeal, accessed September 2026). Extra work such as an outdoor power point may come on top.

Can I add cameras to my alarm system later?

With a modular system, yes. The Neroo Cam works in the same free app as the Neroo alarm systems, so you have alarm notifications and camera footage in one place and can expand later.

Will the police come if I see a break-in on camera?

If you see a break-in happening live, call 112. In the Netherlands, anyone who sees or hears a break-in in progress and reports it gets the police. Verification requirements apply mainly to automatic signals that come in via an alarm receiving centre.
